Couple's 60 years of wedded bliss
LOVE made Ron Morey pack his bags and move to Ipswich more than 60 years ago.Later this month he will be thanking his lucky stars that he followed his heart when he celebrates his diamond wedding.
LOVE made Ron Morey pack his bags and move to Ipswich more than 60 years ago.
Later this month he will be thanking his lucky stars that he followed his heart when he celebrates his diamond wedding.
Devon-born Mr Morey, now 82, was stationed in Suffolk during the war and served with the Queens Royal Regiment.
He met his sweet heart Jean Cobb, also now 82, who was driving a bread van to help the war effort, and the couple was married at Ipswich register office on January 28 1942.
They went on to have a son Paul now and have two grandchildren, Joanne and Andrew, and two great grandchildren Samuel and Lorna, of whom they are very proud.
After the war Mrs Morey spent most of her working life in ladies fashion, while a lot of Ron's working life was with Tolly Cobbold as a drayman.

The couple of Exeter Road, Claydon, used to be active members of the Norbridge social club in Ipswich.
Mrs Morey was a member of the mother's union and Mr Morey a keen bowls player.
