THOUSANDS of pounds of damage was caused to Felixstowe port's newest crane today - after one of the world's largest ships smashed into it.
The quayside crane will take months to repair after being hit by the vessel Gunvor Maersk after it lost power and drifted back to its berth. The 99,500 tonne ship suffered a few scratches, but the crane was knocked off its wheels and rails.
