ALCOHOL related arrests in Suffolk fell by more than a fifth during the last festive period, police revealed today.
Crime dropped 586 offences in December 2006, compared with the same month in 2005 and alcohol-related arrested fell by nearly 22 per cent, from 396 to 310.
Detective chief inspector Phil Aves said: “It seems that generally people have been very well behaved and our arrest figures for this year show a marked drop on last year, particularly over the New Year period.”
The force launched its Stay Safe campaign on December 1, aiming to reduce disorder and alcohol related arrests over the Christmas period.
The key messages were not to drink and drive and not to be afraid to report domestic violence, not to overdo it, to stay with friends and to get home safe.
