A CHARITY fun day organiser has raised nearly £3,000 for the hospital that cared for her baby.
Charlie's Day was held at Ipswich Wanderers Football Club in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital and welcomed nearly 500 through the gates.
Charlie was born on Christmas Eve 2007 but sadly died two weeks later at Great Ormond Street.
Dani Wren, 20, from Playford Road, Rushmere, was so grateful for the care she and her baby boy received, that she decided to repay the life support ward.
She said: “It went really well and it also helped me a lot. We were worried in the morning because it was raining but it cleared up and was really nice in the end.
“I wanted to show Great Ormond Street how much I appreciated the care that me and my family received and how they looked after Charlie. I know they rely quite heavily on charity money.”
The fun day was packed with fun activities including a mega slide, bouncy castle, children's fancy dress competition and football match between Ipswich Wanderers and Ipswich Exiles.
In total, £2,774.41 was raised on Charlie's Day yesterday, and donations are still being received.
