If you were a regular at the Racecourse in Nacton Road, Ipswich, in the 1970s, we may have pictured you in today's nostalgia gallery.
In 1974 Ipswich’s Nacton Road looked very different - not least because it was home to the large Racecourse hotel and pub.
Opened in the 1930s, the pub’s name derives from the fact that it stood close to the location of the finishing post on the old Ipswich racecourse, which was active between 1710 and 1911.
The course ran on land between Felixstowe Road and Nacton Road and stretched for around two miles.
The hotel closed and was boarded up in November 2008. Planning permission to build several blocks of flats on the land was agreed and the pub was subsequently demolished during the summer of 2009.
A Tesco Express is now open on the site where the hotel once stood.
