Ransomes Sims and Jefferies, Ransomes and Rapier and Reavell’s are just some of the Ipswich companies whose products were known world wide, writes David Kindred.

All were involved in huge engineering projects and have been featured in Days Gone by over recent months. While other names featured, including Phillips and Piper and William Pretty were in the clothing industry, and Churchman’s made cigars and cigarettes. This week I feature a small bakers in the heart of Ipswich who made charcoal biscuits and shortbread for export. R M Scott were based at 11 Tower Street, Ipswich.
