Police have now reopened a stretch of the A14 near Ipswich after a dog was hit by a car.
A black Labrador is in a serious condition after being struck by a car on the A14 this morning.
Emergency crews shut lane two of the eastbound carriageway following reports a dog had been struck by a vehicle.
Hadleigh Police tweeted a the time: “Please take care as you approach this part of the A14 and expect possible delays.”
At 11.30am, they tweeted to update drivers, suggesting the road had re-opened again – and that the dog had been taken to the vets.
Hadleigh Police had also received reports of another dog still loose in the area, but officers were unable to locate a second animal.
