FELIXSTOWE: Goalkeeper Liam Jones is being forced to put his feet up – after breaking his leg when he fell awkwardly in his penalty area.
It was a double blow for the goalie, who now faces being out for the rest of the season, but was also due to have started a new job this week.
Today he faces an operation to have a metal plate put in place on his fractured fibula and will be in plaster for some time.
His team-mates were devastated by the injury and were thinking more about Liam’s plight as he waited on the sidelines for the ambulance to arrive rather than their game – eventually going down 11-0 without him.
“I heard the crack as I landed and I knew straight away that it was broken,” said Liam, 24, who joined Felixstowe &Walton United last season from Needham Market.
