LAWFORD mother Wendy Jipson was to be sentenced today after admitting she was more than twice the drink-drive limit during a car accident which killed her teenage daughter.
LAWFORD mother Wendy Jipson was to be sentenced today after admitting she was more than twice the drink-drive limit during a car accident which killed her teenage daughter.
Jipson, 42, has been warned by magistrates in Colchester, Essex, that she could be sent to jail.
The mother-of-five pleaded guilty to drink-driving at a hearing last month.
The case was adjourned for reports and Jipson was due to appear before Colchester Magistrates' Court for sentencing.
Jipson's Ford Escort went out of control on a bend which had standing water on it, in Dedham, Essex, in March.
The vehicle hit a telegraph pole and her daughter and passenger Julia Kettle, 17, died from multiple injuries.
The court was told in August that the water content on the country road was a significant factor in the crash.
On the day of the accident Jipson had been out to lunch with a friend where she had been drinking.
She had planned not to drive again that day, but that night got behind the wheel to drive in response to a family problem, the court was told.
Julia, lived with her mother, two brothers and two sisters at their home in Lawford. The former Mannigtree High School pupil had worked for a Colchester estate agent before her death.
