EIGHT gun crime suspects were arrested today after a stand-off with armed police in Kesgrave.

Officers were called to a house in Glanville Place shortly after 4am following a tip-off.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: “Officers have acted following information and have arrested eight people on suspicion of firearms' offences.

“Officers attended an address in Granville Place, Kesgrave, after receiving intelligence that a man had been in possession of a gun. Police cordoned off the area and the occupants then came voluntarily out of the address.”

The suspects were taken to Ipswich and Felixstowe police stations where they were expected to be interviewed today.

The police spokeswoman said the siege was over just before 9.30am.

She stressed the incident was not related to the current murder inquiry which began early today after a man was stabbed to death and three people were shot in and around Zest nightclub in Princes Street, Ipswich.

A second man, who was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence, was also stabbed in the same area. A discarded gun was discovered in the car park at the rear of the nightclub.
