EIGHT puppies found in the cellar of an unnamed Suffolk pet shop have been seized by the RSPCA following a raid.
The Cocker Spaniel and Border Collie puppies were recovered following a surprise raid on a pet shop in Lowestoft after a number of complaints were received by Trading Standards and the RSPCA claiming that puppies were being kept in the cellar of the premises.
As a result of the raid eight puppies were signed over to the care of the RSPCA and are currently being held in isolation until results of blood tests are known.
During the investigation it also emerged that Labrador cross puppies were being sold as higher price pure-breed.
Wednesday's swoop was the first of its kind in the county, and is the result of a joint operation between officers from Suffolk County Council's Trading Standards department, Waveney District Council's Environmental Health Department and the RSPCA.
