Election 2015: Long way still to go at Suffolk Coastal - there are still ballot boxes yet to be opened.

The Sufolk Coastal General Election underway at Suffolk Constabulary Headquarters at Martlesham. Ballot boxes staked waiting for the count to begin.

The delay is blaimed on the fact that boxes had to be shipped from as far away as Southwold and Felixstowe to the count at Suffolk Constabulary’s Martlesham Heath HQ.

Returning officer Stephen Baker explained that the count has started while verification of other voting slips continues elsewhere in the hall.

All eyes now on the piles of counted votes on a table at the far end of the hall . . . but it’s early days yet.

The result is expected around 5am.

Conservatives hold the seat - Therese Coffey won it last time round - and it would be a big shock if that changed.
