Emergency services – including the coastguard – were called to an incident at Ipswich Waterfront yesterday (August 4) afternoon following concerns for the welfare of a woman.

Police, the East of England Ambulance Service and the coastguard all attended the incident at Regatta Quay, near the DanceEast headquarters, shortly before 4pm.

On arrival, emergency services found a woman making threats to enter the water. The woman did not enter the water and was left in the care of the ambulance service.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: “We were called at 3.55pm following concerns for the safety of a woman at Regatta Quay in Ipswich.

“On arrival, emergency services found a woman at the edge of the quay making threats to enter the water.

“Emergency services, including police, the ambulance service and the coastguard, attended and the woman was left in the care of the ambulance service.”
