A WOMAN who bought an emu egg on holiday got an egg-cellent surprise when it hatched into a chick.
Chicken breeder Gillian Stone, 47, bought three eggs at a farm on the Isle of Wight and placed them in an incubator to see what might happen.
While two of the eggs proved to be infertile, the third hatched a baby emu, who has now been called Osborne.
Ms Stone, of Bexhill, East Sussex, plans to move the bird to a smallholding to enjoy its life.
