A PRISONER has escaped from the controversial open unit at Hollesley Bay prison.

Scott Chandler, 31, who was serving five years and six months for making threats to kill went missing from the unit between 10.40 and 11.25pm yesterday.

He is described as white, about 5ft 3inches tall, of small build, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was also clean shaven on his escape.

He has tattoos of a swallow and a British bull dog on his right arm and a star tattoo on his left arm.

Police are advising anyone spotting Chandler not to approach him and to alert officers immediately by calling 999.

He has contacts in Ipswich and Stowmarket.
