A CONVICTED criminal on the run from a Suffolk jail has continued to taunt police over the festive period by posting more messages on a social networking website.

Craig Lynch is facing a severe backlash from many of the on-line community who sent angry comments to his Facebook page.

The 28-year-old - who disappeared from Hollesley Bay Prison as he neared the end of a seven-year jail term for aggravated burglary - has now set up a private profile to hide from the taunts of other internet users.

But he still arrogantly continued to taunt police over the festive break saying: “wow it really is xmas ha ha i cant beleive i made it **** tha police”.

He also said: “Oh No sirens!!...false alarm it was an ambulance..oh no I think its the old lady in the bungalow opposite.”

Later on he added: “Thinking maybe we should get some fan t-shirts made. What do you think mates?” and “It is freezin out there. I wonder if i can take the right **** and stay out til the summertime ha ha.”

Lynch has been at large since September 23 and last week the EADT revealed how he had been posting regular updates on social networking website Facebook - boasting that he had been eating steak dinners and even confirming his attendance at a New Year's Eve party in Lowestoft and another party in Norwich in February.

Some 2,590 people from across the globe have now signed up to his internet page - many of whom are rallying together and sending strong abuse to the convicted criminal, who goes by the name Craig “Lazie” Lynch.

Web users have also set up a “Craig Lazie Lynch is no hero” page after becoming concerned that some individuals were sending messages of support.

“How stupid can people be egging this idiot on?,” it reads. “How can people think that this guy is a hero when we've got lads risking their lives every day in Afgan, they are the real heroes.”

Lynch has connections to the Edgware area of Middlesex and north-east London and as a result Suffolk Constabulary is liaising with other forces in an effort to find him.

Last week a spokeswoman said his details had been logged on the Police National Computer and that routine checks were regularly performed at his known addresses.

According to reports it is also believed that officers are now working with officials from Facebook to try and catch Lynch.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police Force - which is responsible for Middlesex and north east London - declined to comment last week and a spokesperson for the Prison Service said his disappearance was a police matter.

Anyone with information about Lynch's whereabouts is asked to call Suffolk police on 01473 613500 or contact their nearest police station.
