In the same way we have a favourite Doctor Who from our youth, almost everyone has their favourite George Michael.

Whether it’s that floppy haired Choose Life t-shirt wearing kid, or the tight jeans and leather jacket of Faith fame, George wore every image with style and carried through a new musical era each time to boot.

Is it any wonder one might be so sceptical of any tribute act to the late star?

Fastlove - A tribute to George Michael, not only doths the trilby hat of respect to the late singer’s songbook, but exceeds every single expectation. Accompanied by backing singers, one of which is a wonderful saxophonist, and a complete band, not one note was out of place and their energy was on fire. Accompanied by four sensational dancers, it is quite a package of entertainment, laughter, tears.

George on this occasion is the later years legend, suited with the slick sculptured beard, dark glasses, and a man who kept three steps ahead of everyone in his craft.

Joseph Sansome, who perhaps doesn’t have the energy and youth of George in his Wham days, captures the iconic look. But then close your eyes.

Any celebration of an artist who has passed has to be handled delicately, and whilst not affiliated with or endorsed by George Michael it would be fair to say the Fastlove world wide tour would have been met with great approval.

Joseph clearly loves and respects the role he plays, and before singing the heart-breaking A Different Corner, says “I could never sing as good as George”.

Let’s face it, he comes pretty damn close, matching his impressive vocal range and falsetto.

He puts the boom boom into your heart with a show-stopping extravaganza any George Michael fan would regret to miss.

From best-loved songs from Wham and George’s solo career including Careless Whisper, Freedom 90, Outside and Too Funky, you will be forgiven for absolutely losing yourself in this show.

If you have ever felt you would never be THAT member of the audience, you will be powerless to resist getting up on your feet, singing along to every word. Felixstowe’s Spa Pavilion never felt more alive.
