FORMER champion athlete Kriss Akabusi was the guest speaker as Felixstowe Freight Club celebrated its 65th luncheon event.
Mr Akabusi won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles at the 1990 European Championships, gold in the 4x400m relay at the 1991 World Championships, and silver in the 4x400m relay at the 1984 Olympic Games.
Now a TV presenter and motivational speaker, he treated the 265 guests at the lunch at the Orwell Hotel, Hamilton Road, to a step-by-step account of the gold medal run in Tokyo in the 1991 World Championships as he showed a video of the famous final.
The lunch also enjoyed a performance from comedian Russ Williams.
The event was sponsored by MCP and Gotelee Solicitors and among the guests was former club chairman Rik Hunwicke, now residing in Thailand but who made a special effort to support the event while visiting the UK for a holiday.
