FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a fire at the former Coconut Grove bar in Ipswich town centre today.Four crews from Princes Street and Colchester Road were called to the building in Princes Street, known previously as Giles Tavern, at around 3am to find a fire on the ground floor.
AROUND 20 firefighters tackled a fire at the former Coconut Grove bar in Ipswich town centre today.
Four crews from Princes Street and Colchester Road were called to the building in Princes Street, known previously as Giles Tavern, around 3am to find a fire on the ground floor.
The rest of the three-storey building was heavily smoke logged. The blaze out by 3.50am.
The ground floor is currently being renovated and was due to re-open tomorrow as a new bar named Harvey's.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by officers.
