SEAFRONT walkers dialled 999 after they spotted flames leaping from the trees and bushes in Felixstowe's Spa Gardens.
The fire broke out in a cliff area alongside the steps just below Hamilton Gardens, opposite the junction with Ranelagh Road, at just after 8.15pm last night.
People on the prom watched as flames leapt into the air, creating a steady plume of smoke.
One fire crew from Felixstowe attended the incident to put out the fire.
Around five square metres of shrubs and trees were damaged.
Firefighters in Ipswich were called to bushes on fire in Howe Avenue just after 10.30pm. Three sq m of undergrowth was affected.
