RETAINED firefighters at Felixstowe are willing to answer emergency call-outs – but their bosses will not let them.
The astonishing stance by management means 30,000 people in Felixstowe and Trimley are left with no fire cover based in the area and must rely on Green Goddesses travelling from Ipswich.
County council and fire service bosses declined to say why they are not prepared to let the retained firefighters work normally.
