FIREFIGHTERS tackled five chimney blazes across Suffolk today.

Their busy day began when crews were called to a house in Waterhouse Road, Sotterley, near Beccles, just after 9.20am.

The chimney was well alight when firefighters from Wrentham arrived. The flames were extinguished by about 10.15am.

A fire later started at a property in Ashfield Road, Elmswell, at around 1.10pm. Two crews were initially sent before a third was drafted in to help with a turntable ladder after finding the chimney well alight. The fire was out at 2.30pm.

One crew was then sent to a property in Ashe Road, Rendlesham, where they found a small fire at around 4.10pm. The fire was put out within half an hour.

Firefighters then spent nearly two hours battling a chimney which was alight at a property in Norton, near Elmswell. The fire was brought under control at around 6.45pm.

They were also called to the Green Man pub in Woodbridge Road, Tunstall, near Wickham Market, just after 6pm after sparks were seen coming from the chimney. One crew was sent, but the fire was out by the time they arrived.

No one hurt in any of the incidents.
