Work is well underway at Bury St Edmunds leisure centre, with the long-absent water flumes set to open soon.
The previous flumes were deemed no longer fit for purpose, with one ending up in the garden of a Stonham Aspal family last year. The facility, owned by St Edmundsbury Borough Council and managed by Abbeycroft Leisure, has been without working flumes since the summer last year. The two new flumes will be opening soon.
A council spokeswoman said: “The suppliers of the specially-designed water slides are on site this week continuing with installation. Once this has been completed, the commissioning process continues, with the main contractor completing the building works, all with the minimum of disruption over the busy half-term period.”
