FORMER Colchester United goalkeeper Dean Gerken was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure after allegedly urinating in public.

The 24-year-old, who now plays for Bristol City, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday.

Former U's favourite Gerken had been out celebrating after his new club beat Barnsley 3-2 in the Championship.

He was taken to a police station before being released without charge, but given a fixed penalty for the use of threatening words and behaviour.

A club spokesman said the player had apologised for his actions.

He said: As far as the club is concerned this matter has already been dealt with internally.

“The matter is now closed.

Gerken joined City on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee in July.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that police arrested a 24-year-old man at around 2.25am on Sunday, October 25, in the vicinity of College Green.

“He was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure and taken to a police station.

“He was later released after being issued with a fixed penalty notice for the use of threatening words and behaviour.

“No further action was taken over the allegations of indecent exposure.”
