Four people were taken to hospital after a three car pile-up on a village road.
Three fire crews were called in to free people trapped in wrecked VW Golf, Renault Clio and Peugeot 206 cars involved in the crash outside Burton Farm Bungalow in Clare Road, Long Melford, at just before 9.30pm on Saturday.
However, a fire service spokesman said the people had all been freed from the vehicles by the time the engines from Long Melford, Sudbury and Bury St Edmunds arrived at the scene.
A police spokesman said four people were taken to West Suffolk Hospital, Bury, following the collision but their injuries were not believed to be serious.
Officers closed the road in the wake of the accident and it was reopened at just before 11pm.
