The Friends of Christchurch Park is calling on the community to support its bid for a new fountain by voting in an online funding scheme.
The Friends’ project to install a fountain in the middle of the park’s large pond to help restore the pond has been accepted for the Aviva Community Fund, and needs your votes to secure a grant.
So far the group has raised £1,000 towards the £8,000 project, with Ipswich Borough Council understood to have pledged around half.
Success with an Aviva grant would enable it to raise the remaining £3,000 needed to make the fountain a reality.
The project said: “There have been a number of comments on the FOCP Facebook page remarking about the poor state of the pond and as a focal point of the lower part of the park it presents a sorry appearance.
“The provision of a fountain would bring it back to life literally.”
