HOW’S about this for a hair-raising idea?

Hairdressers at a town centre salon are hoping their fab tashes will bring in the cash in aid of the popular Movember campaign, which raises money for testicular cancer.

They are hoping to raise more than 500 by growing their moustaches – and will cut off customers’ tashes for free next month.

Staff at Francesco Hair Salon, of St Matthews Street, have already raised over 250 for cancer charities this month.

“It is a great cause to be supporting,” said owner Francesco De Lellis.

“Friends and customers have been brilliant with their donations. Their support has been fantastic.”

Hairdressers at the popular family-run salon are growing different styles of moustaches. “I have chosen to grow a Mexican horseshoe,” said Ciro De Lellis, 23.

“It was either that or the legendary Ron Burgandy tash from Anchorman!

“My dad (Francesco) is growing an Errol Flynn-inspired one and my brothers Giovanni and Fabio are growing eye-catching tashes – but mine is the best!”

The aim of Movember is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate and testicular cancers.

Famous ‘Mo Bros’ taking part in Movember this year include England and Arsenal footballer Theo Walcott.

Other celebs growing their tashes include TV pub landlord Al Murray, Suffolk boxer and Olympian Anthony Ogogo, former England soccer ace Michael Owen, England rugby star Toby Flood and England cricketer Graham Onions.

“By the end of the first week we had raised over 200 and we are very grateful for everyone that has donated,” said Giovanni De Lellis, 25.

“Hopefully we will end up raising over 500 for this great cause. We support charities all throughout the year like the Poppy Appeal.

“Movember gives you an excuse to grow a moustache and see how it looks. You do get some strange looks in the street but I quite like mine – and might keep it at the end of the month!”

Fabio De Lellis, 21, added: “A few days ago I looked in the mirror and thought ‘I look ridiculous, I need to shave it off!’

“But it is all about shaping it to how you like it.

“Hopefully we can raise as much money as possible, and we will be shaving them off for customers for free next month.”
