THOUSANDS of people enjoyed a movie music fireworks spectacular as Felixstowe came together to celebrate Guy Fawkes night.

There was a real family atmosphere at Felixstowe and Walton United Football Club’s ground in Dellwood Avenue – with plenty of squeals and oohs and aahs as young and old watched the colourful display.

Music from films such as James Bond, Mission Impossible, Star Wars and Grease serenaded the fireworks.

There was also entertainment from fire spinners, plus a food village, and a family funfair.

Chris Daynes, fundraising officer for the football club, said: “I think the wet weather did put a lot of people off so numbers were down compared to last year.

“But we had a lot of compliments on the way out from people who said it was great. The weather held off during the event itself.

“It went really, really well. We aren’t quite sure how much we have raised for the East Anglian Air Ambulance yet, but we will find that out soon.

“This year went off without a hitch really. There are normally minor things that go wrong but that wasn’t the case.

“I have been involved in the event since it was set up five years ago and it is definitely getting bigger and better each year.”

A share of the proceeds from the evening will go to the work of the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The event was sponsored by Goldstar Transport, the Felixstowe Star, East of England Co-operative Society, Felixstowe Town Council, Print It, Caf on the Corner and Ipswich24.
