A young family in Ipswich is hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for Mason’s Magic this Christmas by lighting up their street and spreading some festive cheer.

Dina Brown, her partner Mike and six-year-old Sprites Primary School pupil Amiee-Lee Howe spent nearly a week illuminating their home in Royston Drive to help support the charity.

Hundreds of twinkling lights, signs and snowmen are drawing dozens of well-wishers to support their appeal.

Mrs Brown, 31, said she decided earlier this year to transform her house into the seasonal attraction it has become.

Mason’s Magic, affiliated with Brain Tumour UK, was started by eight-year-old brain tumour sufferer Mason Fountain, of Ipswich, to help other youngsters with brain tumours.

He was diagnosed with the condition in April 2010 and underwent months of chemotherapy.

The appeal received national backing, with Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden and former British and world heavyweight boxing champion David Haye among the more than 30,000 Twitter supporters.

Mrs Brown said she has been friends with Shelley Fountain, mother of Mason Fountain, for around two or three years.

She said she found the will and energy to take on the challenge of lighting up her house after being inspired by Mason’s courageous battle.

“It is just such a fantastic cause to be supporting,” she said.

“We spent nearly four days putting up the lights and are very pleased with the final outcome.

“Amiee-Lee was very helpful and absolutely loves all the decorations.

“We now hope that as many people as possible donate.”

Mrs Fountain expressed her thanks to Mrs Brown for supporting Mason’s Magic.

“It is a great display. I would like to thank Dina and everyone who donates,” she said.

The lights will switch on from 5pm every day until New Year’s Day.
