An exhibition featuring more than 500 images produced by members of a leading East Anglian photographic society gets underway next week.
The Ipswich and District Photographic Society’s Annual Exhibition runs for 10 days from Tuesday, March 4, encompassing a wide range of genres including landscape, portraiture and photojournalism.
A society spokesman said the event was the “highlight of our calendar” and a highly regarded annual tradition.
“It’s great to be able to showcase our work to a wider audience and to feature such an extensive collection all together under one roof,” they added.
The Mayor of Ipswich will visit on the opening day at the Town Hall Galleries, Cornhill, when he will select his personal favourite as the Best in Exhibition.
The chosen photographer will be presented with the Mayor’s Cup at an awards dinner that evening at as part of an annual tradition dating back to 1926.
The free exhibition runs from 10am to 5pm between Tuesday and Saturday, finishing on March 14.
