WELCOME to our weekly look back through the archives of the Evening Star photographic department.

This week we have travelled back to 1969, with memories of children visiting Felixstowe Flower Show in November that year.

Also in Felixstowe, we have pictures of firemen repairing toys for Barnardo’s children and a Felixstowe Town team group, both from October.

From Ipswich, there are pictures of Chantry Youth Club’s panto, Snow White, and the Christchurch TWG drama group’s Spanish evening, both in January, and Anglia TV recording a morning service from St Joseph’s College in February.

Meanwhile, Star reader David Wilson got in touch after seeing an archive picture on our daily Memory Frame page.

He writes: “I have just read my copy of tonight’s Evening Star and think you have got the surname wrong in the picture of the wedding outside Ipswich School (March 9).

“As a former pupil I know the man is Mr Yelland who taught me in the Prep School in the 1950s. I think the lady was Miss Horn whom he married. Just thought this might be useful for your records and hope my memory is correct!”

Thanks for your letter, David, and if any of our archive pictures spark any more memories, please write in.
