With Valentine’s Day nearly upon us, editor in chief Terry Hunt has shared his list of Suffolk’s top 10 romantic places - so there is no excuse not to make your beloved feel special.

Have we missed off your favourite spot? Share your suggestions below.

Flatford/Dedham

Soak up the history and enjoy the landscape which was immortalised by John Constable - many of the scenes are virtually unaltered.

Framlingham castle

Well, I couldn’t leave out my old home town, could I? A favourite spot in Suffolk is the 1,000 year-old castle, with its beautiful views over the mere and on to my old school, Framlingham College.

Kersey

The archetypal English village, with the water splash at the bottom of the hill. Take the walk up to the church and then look back. Stunning.

Lavenham

A simply beautiful village with enough history and good places to eat and drink to make a whole romantic day of it.

Aldeburgh/Thorpeness

I thoroughly recommend the walk along the beach between Thorpeness and Aldeburgh, preferably starting in Thorpeness, enjoying a coffee (or maybe something stronger) in Aldeburgh and then meandering back. Gorgeous.

Covehithe

A hidden gem. Park by the church (don’t block anyone’s drive) and then walk round the fields to the beach, which you will almost certainly find deserted. The isolation is wonderful.

Ipswich Waterfront

Modern Ipswich at its best. As you meander round the marina, you could be in the glitzy south of France. Enjoy a coffee or something more substantial as you watch the world go by.

Abbey Gardens, Bury St Edmunds

West Suffolk at its best. Beautiful gardens, quiet ruins to explore at your leisure, ducks to feed and then an ice cream or a game of croquet to top it

Christchurch Park, Ipswich

Go for a stroll through this wonderful park, which is only a few yards from the bustling town centre. See if you can catch a glimpse of Mabel the famous owl in her tree, enjoy the wildlife area and, of course, explore the fabulous mansion.

Southwold pier

Wonderfully quirky and brilliant for a day out with a difference. Stunning views, good food and drink, and some wonderfully eccentric slot machines!
