POLICE are appealing for information after several accosting incidents in Lowestoft in the past few days.

The first incident happened in Corton Long Lane at about 5.30pm on Wednesday, July 30. A 19-year-old woman was walking towards Corton when a silver car drove up from behind her and pulled up onto the verge in front of her, blocking her path.

The man driving then opened the passenger door and spoke to her, offering her a lift. She declined and moved the passenger door to continue on her way. The man closed the door of the vehicle and drove off towards Corton Road. He was white, in his 30s, with a bald head or short light hair and was wearing a dark coloured jacket.

There were then two incidents on Friday morning, August 1, at about 8.40am to 8.45am. Two girls - a 15-year-old and a 12-year-old - were walking along Yarmouth Road and were close to the junction with Harris Avenue when they became aware of a man behind them.

The man joined them and bumped hips with one of the girls before grabbing her around the waist. She told him to stop and the man walked off in the opposite direction. The man police need to trace is described as white, in his late 20s to early 40s, about 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, slim with short brown hair and was wearing a blue T-shirt and white knee-length shorts.

A man of similar description also approached a 17-year-old girl in the same location around the same time. The girl saw the man coming towards her and as she was about to pass him he put his arm out blocking her path. She stopped and the man turned around and walked with her, trying to engage her in conversation.

After a few moments the girl took out her mobile phone and the man left heading in the opposite direction, towards Great Yarmouth.

The most recent incident happened at about 8am on Saturday, August 2, a 13-year-old girl was riding her bike in Hall Road, Oulton, when she was stopped by a white man, with short grey hair, about 5ft 10ins tall, in his 30s to 40s, wearing a dark fleece/jumper and knee-length navy shorts. He spoke to her but when she tried to ride away he place a stick in the spokes of a wheel of the bike to try and stop her. The girl rode away.

The girl also reported seeing the man watching her and following her around in the Somerleyton Road area on Friday, August 1. He eventually left in a small silver vehicle, which had been parked close to the junction with Oulton Road North.

Officers are investigating these incidents, and any possible links between them, and are asking anyone involved or anyone with any information about them to come forward.
