AN Ipswich woman today described the terrifying moment she was confronted in a newsagents by a masked man wielding a hunting knife and demanding money.

Police are hunting the raider after he targeted the Good News newsagents in Norwich Road at about 5pm on Monday.

The woman, who was too scared to be named, told the Star she had just returned to the front of the shop after putting some rubbish out the back when a man holding a large knife approached her.

She said: “At first I thought it was some kind of joke, just some kids messing around but when I realised what was happening I really panicked.

“He said 'give me the money' and 'don't make me angry'.

“I just stood there and didn't move.

“I was just thinking about myself and was worried if I went to the till he might attack me.

“I ran away towards the back door and he just ran off out the front door.

“After that I pressed the panic button and the police came.”

Police said the man made off without taking anything from the shop.

He is described as white, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, 6ft 3in tall, of muscular build and with thinning mousey brown hair.

He was wearing black boots, had a distinctive blue coloured piercing through his left eyebrow and was carrying a blue backpack.

Anyone with information should contact DC David Henderson at Ipswich CID on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
