TAXPAYERS in Babergh are expected to face a tax hike in line with inflation next year.
Babergh District Council is considering a tax increase of 2.7 per cent next year which compares with increases in the previous two years if 2.8pc and 3.6pc.
In a report to the council's Strategy Committee, Geoff Kistner, Corporate Director, explains the increase of 2.7pc is the result of a rigorous exercise over a number of months by councillors and officers to identify efficiency and other savings.
Mr Kistner also anticipates the likelihood of a good grant settlement from the government for next year.
The final decision on the budget will be made by the council on February 23.
