THERE is good news for Suffolk's motorists today after three supermarket giants slashed their petrol prices, starting a price war across the county.
Both Asda and Tesco have cut the price of a litre of unleaded to just 85.9p, while Sainsbury's is selling a litre for 86.9p, and all three are charging a flat rate of 91.9p for a litre of diesel.
The drop takes the cost of unleaded petrol at Asda down to its lowest price since November 2005.
It has fallen by 12p per litre since the start of August and by 50p per gallon since January.
Asda's trading director Andy Brem said: "We have seen significant falls in petrol costs with crude edging back towards 60 dollars a barrel and surplus gasoline driving market prices down.
"This is good news for motorists and we've once again seized the opportunity to pass these savings on to all our customers moving to the same price nationwide."
