FOXHALL waste site on the edge of Ipswich was closed at lunchtime today after a possible hand grenade was spotted in a consignment of household waste left at the site.
Police were called in but after a quick examination it was established that the grenade was old and had long ago been turned into a paperweight.
It had been thrown away with an ornamental musket. The site was re-opened after about half an hour.
