A stunning angel whose smile brightened the lives of all who knew her.

That is how the devastated family of Rebecca Phillips have today remembered their daughter and sister, who died suddenly after collapsing at a party in Hadleigh on Saturday night.

The 25-year-old was enjoying a 30th birthday, surrounded by her closest friends, at Hadleigh United Football Club when tragedy struck.

Shocked at the loss of their bright and bubbly daughter, sister, granddaughter, auntie and friend, her loved ones are today waiting to discover why Bec as she was affectionately known, was taken from them so suddenly.

Speaking at the home she shared with her parents in Bradfield Crescent, Hadleigh mum Julie Phillips said there was a “gigantic hole in all our lives”.

Her dad Peter Phillips said: “We don’t know the full details yet, all we know is she said she didn’t feel well and collapsed.

“She was an absolute angel, a stunning girl,” he said. “She lit up a room with her smile.

“Everybody thought the world of her, she was outgoing, bubbly and scatty.”

It was around 11.45pm on Saturday that one of their daughter’s best friends alerted them to the fact something was wrong.

Mrs Phillips said: “We just can’t believe this has happened, she had no medical problems and she hadn’t been ill.

“She was at her happiest, she had a new boyfriend and was loving life.

“We are going to miss her so much.”

Tragedy has struck the family just six weeks after Rebecca’s older brother Nick Phillips welcomed his son MacAulay into the world.

Auntie Bec Bec as she was known by her niece Ava, 3, was remembered by her big brother as “the happiest, most beautiful person inside and out”.

He said: “She had the brightest smile that could brighten up any room, I will miss her terribly as will her little neice Ava and baby nephew MacAulay they will always love their auntie Bec Bec.”

And her eldest brother Lee Phillips said just days ago he saw his “beautiful sister” wearing the dress she was to wear as bridesmaid at his wedding next June.

He added: “She looked stunning and she was so exited about being part of it all.

“This weekend has been like a nightmare.

“I received the call that Bec had taken a fall at a party. It wasn’t long before my worst fears came to light, my beautiful sister had gone.

“I love my sister dearly and this loss will be with my family forever.”

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said they were called to reports a 25-year-old woman had collapsed and gone into cardiac arrest at a party at Hadleigh Football Club at around midnight on Sunday.

She said the woman was taken to Ipswich Hospital.

And a Suffolk police spokeswoman confirmed officers had been called to the sudden death, as is protocol. She said the death has been referred to the coroner.
