An air ambulance was called to a Suffolk village today after a young woman suffered a horse riding accident.

East Anglian Air Ambulance’s Anglia One crew doctor Vicky Smith and critical-care paramedic Neil Flowers attended the accident in Hollesley at 8.33am.

The helicopter landed in a field next to an ambulance, which was already on scene, and the crew were by the patient’s side by 9.05am.

The rider, who is in her twenties, had suffered injuries to her abdomen. The crew supported the EEAST crew to assess and treat the patient on scene before she was taken to Ipswich Hospital by land ambulance.

The patient is understood to be in a stable condition
