SUFFOLK was basking in a glorious 28C day today - as weather experts officially declared 'hot' weather for the county.
Ipswich recorded a temperature of 81.9F at 2pm today, sending temperatures into the official 'hot' bracket for the first time since August 5 last year.
As people ventured out into the sunshine to enjoy their summer breaks, temperatures gradually rose through the early afternoon until Suffolk left behind the mild and warm weather ratings of the early summer.
Evening Star weatherman Ken Blowers said: “This is classified as hot and it's the first time this year - we've reached it at last!”
Mr Blowers said Ipswich was headed for more sunny weather tomorrow.
However he added: “It will be similar tomorrow but with an increasing risk of thundery outbreaks as it gets more and more humid.”
The sunshine is expected to continue into early next week.
