An Ipswich mother and her two-year-old and five-year-old children have been left without hot water for almost three weeks.

Nadia King, 26, lives with her two young children in a Wherstead Road property managed by Sanctuary Housing.

Nadia, who is asthmatic, says the lack of hot water has left her unable to wash her children and, despite reporting the issue to Sanctuary more than two weeks ago, there is still no clarity on when it will be fixed.

"I'm having to use hot water that I've boiled on the hob just to keep my children clean," she said.

"I've kept telling Sanctuary about the problem but they just keep passing it on to other companies.

"I've got no clarity on when it will be fixed and, as the winter sets in, I'm getting increasingly concerned."

Nadia said the issue started after a problem with the home's immersion tank.

It was not the first time such an incident had occurred, with the family previously being left without hot water for two months.

"When this happened last time, it took such a long time for them to fix it," she said.

"We were without hot water for two months and I'm worried it's going to take this long again.

"Sanctuary just apologise, say they understand and then claim there is nothing they can do."

Nadia says herself and her two young children have also been prone to illness since moving into the home.

She claims the building has an issue with mould, which she believes could be linked to her family's ill health.

"Nothing is being done to sort these problems out," said Nadia.

"I've been on the phone to Sanctuary every day since this latest problem started.

"Boiling water on the hob is costing me more money when it comes to electricity, but I've got no alternative.

"We're being left in the dark and I've currently go no idea when I or my children will have hot water again."

Sanctuary Housing said concerns were raised on November 16 but "no issues were identified during the visit" on the next day.

A second appointment was then arranged for November 22.

Sanctuary has confirmed a new immersion will be installed "as soon as possible".

A spokesman for the company added: “While earlier this year we carried out significant work to address concerns about damp in this property, and have had no further reports since, to support our tenant we have arranged an inspection by a surveyor for Monday (November 28) and will ensure our local housing officer remains in regular contact with her.”
