AN 11-year-old boy is today shocked but safe after a man tried to abduct him in daylight from an Ipswich park.
Police are appealing for witnesses or information to help track down the man, who struck in Christchurch Park, at 3.30pm on Saturday.
The boy was near the park's tennis courts when the man, believed to be aged 35 to 40, tried to take hold of him.
The youngster struggled free and rejoined his friends unharmed but shaken.
The man is described as being of slim build and average height. He had a closely shaven beard and was wearing a dark long-sleeved top and a dark woolly hat.
Any witnesses to the attempted abduction, or anyone who saw a man matching the description in the area, are asked to call Ipswich police on 01473 383100.
