A YOUNG Suffolk man who failed to carry out a lenient sentence for robbery has been sent to a young offenders' institute.
Keiran Botterill, 20, of Cherrytree Road, Stowmarket, breached a combination order of unpaid work and probation following his part in a robbery at the Royal Oak public house in Ipswich Street.
Botterill originally gave evidence against his co-defendant who played the major part in threatening three young men out of cash.
Ipswich Crown Court heard that Botterill did not have a reason for failing to carry out the punishment but now "regretted his action."
Judge Nicholas Beddard sentenced him to eight months in a young offenders' institute.
He said: "I am disappointed that you did not take the chance that I gave you."
