Ex-students from Chantry High School are celebrating 50 years since their school days.

A reunion is taking place this month for students who attended the Ipswich school from 1964 to 1968.

Garry King, one of the organisers, said: “It’s amazing how quickly the word has spread about our reunion.

“I have made contact with about half a dozen people who I haven’t spoken to since my school days. One lady lives only 10 houses away, and I had no idea.

“One person is coming from Canada and another from Northamptonshire. The response has been amazing.”

Garry, 61, from Holyrood Close, who married his school sweetheart, Marina, added: “I am looking forward to seeing all the old faces.

“It’s amazing that it has been 50 years since we started school. It should be a great evening of catching up and reliving old memories.”

The other organisers are John Pye and Carol Bowdler (nee Dennington).

The event is being held at the Holiday Inn, London Road, Ipswich, on August 23. It begins at 7pm.

Tickets cost £5 and are available from Garry on 07957002652.
