Rush-hour traffic has been made even worse after heavy downpours this afternoon - and forecasters are warning of more rain over the coming days.
Surface water is slowing traffic around Wherstead Road in Ipswich and Henley Road in Westerfield following torrential rain.
Meteorologist Jim Bacon from Norwich-based Weatherquest said the showers had come in “the middle of a very unsettled period of weather”, and that slow-moving clouds lingering over the county had meant downpours lasting up to two hours.
He added: “They’re moving slowly southwards so it won’t last forever.”
Mr Bacon said that more wet weather would be coming over Suffolk from the North Sea tomorrow, and that while Thursday and Friday would be warmer, there would still be the risk of showers.
