A MIDDLE-AGED man from Ipswich has been found dead on a Spanish beach, it has been revealed today.

A MIDDLE-AGED man from Ipswich has been found dead on a Spanish beach, it has been revealed today.

Alan Gascoigne, 50, grew up in the Highfield Road area of Whitton in Ipswich and moved over to Malaga in southern Spain some years ago.

Today it has been confirmed that he was found dead on a beach in the Malaga region on July 10. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

His next of kin have been informed.

Mr Gascoigne went to Castle Hill Infants School in Dryden Road, Ipswich, and completed his education at Westbourne School, Marlow Road, Ipswich.

Although he was once married, it is not thought he had any children.

Mr Gascoigne worked for customs in Felixstowe during the 1980s before moving to the West Midlands.

Following a spell in prison he is said to have lived for a time in Lightfoot House in Fuschia Lane, Ipswich before moving in with a friend.

It is not known how he died.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said: “We have been notified of the death of a British national. Alan Gascoigne died on July 10. The next of kin have been informed.

“We are providing consulate assistance.”
