An Ipswich man who stabbed two men during a late night attack outside a town centre nightclub has been jailed for nine years.
One of the victims had a 2cm stab wound to his chest wall, which caused a collapsed lung, while the other had two wounds to the left side of his back and was forced to delay becoming a Royal Marine for a year, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Sentencing 22-year-old Jewel Miah, Judge John Devaux said he had taken a knife out with him to produce “as and when a suitable occasion arose”.
Miah, of Moore Road, Ipswich, had denied having a kitchen knife in Cecilia Street, Ipswich on October 6 last year but was found guilty after a trial in April.
He also denied three offences of wounding Isaac Grant, Patrick Styles and Bradley Orton with intent to do them grievous bodily harm on the same date.
He was convicted of the charges relating to Mr Grant and Mr Styles and cleared of the charge involving Mr Orton.
Jailing him for nine years with an extended licence period of four years, Judge John Devaux said Miah would have to serve two thirds of the sentence before he could be considered for release by the parole board.

He said he was satisfied that Miah represented a significant risk to members of the public by the commission of serious offences in the future.
The court heard that the stabbings took place at around 3am as customers were leaving Unit 17 in Cardinal Park.
Police later found a knife in nearby bushes and Miah’s landlady identified it as being similar to one that was missing from a set of her knives.
Gareth Hughes, prosecuting, said that in a victim impact statement Mr Grant had described suffering a loss of confidence following the attack and being off work for seven weeks while he recovered.
He said that as a result of the stabbing Mr Styles had to delay becoming a Royal Marine for 12 months and the attack had also had financial consequences for him.
Miah chose not to give evidence during his trial.
