An Ipswich man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work for breaking into a Tesco to steal alcohol.
Blood was found on the broken glass door of Tesco in Nacton Road, following a break-in on May 28 last year.
DNA was matched to Benjamin Forbes, of Maryon Road, who admitted burglary with intent to steal at magistrates’ court on Monday.
CCTV showed a male smashing the door with his feet and fists when the store was closed on a Sunday.
Forbes, 25, had since been convicted of burgling the same store in the same manner about a month later, and was given a suspended 12-week prison sentence.
The probation service said Forbes had been engaging well with the rehabilitation requirement of the sentence.
Solicitor Ian Persaud said Forbes had struggled with drugs but had since attended all probation appointments.
Forbes received a 12-month community order, with 100 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation activity days.
