A Suffolk charity will have its logo emblazoned on the shirt of a runner in this year’s London Marathon for the first time ever.

Peter Dawes, an independent financial advisor for CarterDawes IFA Solutions in Ipswich, will take on the challenge in aid of Inspire Suffolk.

He will be the first person to compete in the London Marathon for the charity, which helps young people overcome challenges to secure a positive future.

“I have witnessed the great work Inspire Suffolk do offering opportunities to the young people of Suffolk, who for whatever reason may be experiencing severe disadvantages and social instability,” Mr Dawes said. “I am looking forward to raising money for disadvantaged young people in Suffolk, and I hope people will consider sponsoring me to help give bright opportunities to our young people.”

Mr Dawes is a long-time supporter of Inspire Suffolk and has taken on other fundraising ventures for the charity in the past.

Terry Baxter, chief executive of Inspire Suffolk, said: “We cannot thank Peter enough for choosing to run in the London Marathon for Inspire Suffolk.

“I’ve known Peter personally for some time now, from his connection to Ipswich Chamber of Commerce and more recently through his financial planning expertise – he has real drive and commitment to his community and we’re looking forward to seeing our Inspire Suffolk red t-shirt running by the landmarks of London and cheering Peter along the way.”
