Hundreds of families enjoyed Ipswich Model Engineering Society’s annual Christmas Fun Day on Saturday.
The event in Foxhall Road was described as “wonderful” and “one of the best ever” by member and organiser Terry Woodward.
Visitors enjoyed rides on steam trains, exploring a large garden railway, model trains and a large selection of home-made cakes and tea.
Mr Woodward said: “There must have been at least 500 people who attended. It makes me think it is worthwhile doing. Seeing all these kids who have probably never seen a steam engine before asking lots of questions and having a good look around was great. It is a great learning curve for them.”
He added that the group is seeking more members, particularly people who have recently retired. It was established in 1945 but there are only around 60 members now. For more information, click here.
